Andrew Robertson – 6 – Almost got punished in the 22nd minute. When he couldn’t keep up with Jacob Murphy’s pace, but his shot went wide of the post. The overall picture throughout the game was one of back-and-forth defending rather than attacking up front.
Virgil van Dijk – 5 – While most of the credit must go to Alexander Isak. It can be seen that Van Dijk was marking the Swedish striker a bit too far in the first goal, similar to the 3-3 goal where Van Dijk also played a part in releasing the ball to go wide. But unexpectedly conceded a goal.

Ryan Gravenberch – 5 – Possibly one of the Dutch midfielder’s worst games of the season. As his usual style of play fell flat, he was unable to pass the ball and was unable to contain Newcastle’s advances well enough, and Arne Slot must have seen fit to take him off midway through the second half.
Alexis Mac Allister – 7 – Almost gave the Reds the lead in the 14th minute. But his effort on the edge of the area was saved by Nick Pope. He was shown an early booking in the 20th minute and is now suspended for the next game. However, his quality was not diminished. He curled a beautiful long ball in for Salah to set up the 1-1 draw.
Curtis Jones – 7 – Was running wildly up and down as usual. But added something special to the game, catching the eye again. When he slotted home at the right time in the 50th minute to make it 1-1.
Cody Gakpo – 6 – Did a great job of stealing a Livramento pass and scoring in the 24th minute but unfortunately got blocked. Didn’t have much of an impact there after that. Had a dangerous header in the second half but it was denied and he was substituted.
Darwin Nunez – 4 – Missed a golden opportunity in the 54th minute. When he failed to get on the end of the gap in the space of a split second, and in the 79th minute he sank a close-range effort just wide of the goal, proving once again. Nunez is not someone Liverpool can fully rely on.
Mohamed Salah – 10 – Had a poor first half, unable to do anything significant. But in the second half he was the real “golden man”, starting in the 50th minute with an assist for the equalizer at 1-1, followed by a goal for 2-2 in the 69th minute. Which was his 7th consecutive league game. Not only that, but after hitting the crossbar in the 81st minute. He really did make it 3-2 in the 84th minute when he turned and fired into the net.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (replaced Gomez in the 67th minute) – 9 – Came on and made an assist for Salah to make it 2-2, but a moment later he was booked again. But most importantly, he made a second assist and put it into Mo Salah’s leg for the winning goal, almost making it 3-2.
Dominik Szoboszlai (on for Gravenberch 67′) – 7 – Came on to freshen up Liverpool’s midfield, but unfortunately couldn’t hold on to the 3-2 lead until the end.
Luis Diaz (replaced Gakpo in the 67th minute) – 7 – Came on to replace the Dutch winger well, having had a few chances to threaten the home team’s defence, but it’s a shame he shouldn’t have started in place of Darwin Nunez in the first place.
